Football: Hollesley 2 - 3 Bawdsey

On a chilly afternoon, we welcomed Bawdsey Primary School to Hollesley for a KS2 football match. After a slight delay, Bawdsey won the toss and decided to take kick off. The match was a very even affair and played in good spirits. Playing 20  minutes each way, it really was end to end stuff, with everyone getting stuck in and playing as a team. Some lovely play on both sides saw Hollesley rewarded with a free kick just outside the area, unfortunately the resulting shot sailed over the bar. Bawdsey nearly broke the post with a shot of their own and at half time scores were tied. Both teams pressed hard and tackles were strong but fair, resulting in Bawdsey winning a corner on the left. Unfortunately, the corner caught out the Hollesley defence and it took a deflection...ending up in the back of the net. With only three minutes to play, Hollesley tried as hard as they could, but just couldn't score the goal they needed and the match ended with victory or Bawdsey.

I would just like to say (as referee) that the players on both sides were fantastic. They were supportive and played fairly, non more so than Sam, who when a goal kick was given, corrected the decision by admitting that the ball had flicked his finger on the way through.

Thanks for those parents who came to support and for Mr Green for taking time off to coach the team.

Rugby @ St. Joseph's College

The KS2 players had a great experience at the Suffolk School Games Tag Rugby Festival and played with smiles and a fantastic attitude. The squad really supported each other and scored some scintillating tries. We won a couple, lost a couple...but the only way to improve is attend events like these, so thank you to all the parents and supporters for making such a great afternoon.

Congratulations Harry K for winning Hollesley's Fair Play award which was awarded by the Sports Leaders who kindly gave up their time to referee the matches so well.
